Mr. Beahrs,

Thanks for your comment, which puts what I saw that night in San Jose in some context. I won't be changing my ranking--if the test is given on a bad day, the score stands, right? The impression I got--not just from the helicopter and cannon, but also with the incessant promotions between nearly every pitch--was that the the San Jose Giants were a promotions transference device first and a baseball team second.
As you point out, this impression may have been colored by the day...but it's the only day I have to go on.

I do appreciate that you took the time to write me, and that you did it civilly (so much nicer than the "Hey Jerkoff" letter I got from the front office guy at Lake Elsinore). I'll email you contact information separately.

Indeed, our big baseball trip this year has us seeing the Giants in Stockton on July 3rd. Will you be there?

As a Board Member of the San Jose Giants and shareholder for 23 years I’d love to have a dialogue with you about your perspective about our ballpark in San Jose. I just read your review yesterday of your July 1st – 2006 visit to San Jose. You raise some interesting points but i feel you will have a somewhat different perspective after we compare notes a bit. For example in 23 years I think you happened to visit on the only night we ever had a helicopter on the field. We’ve had a cannon perhaps twice. In any event I really like your rubric. The only thing i strongly disagree with is your inference that our owners are indifferent about baseball. Is there a phone # I can reach you at??? thanks …Dick
